Hey everyone! I’m back this week with another Top 5 Wednesday prompt. I didn’t have time to do one last week, but oh well! So, here’s this week’s prompt about summer-themed books:
As of June 20th, it’s officially summer! To herald in many people’s favorite season, what are five books that get you in the summer mood?
(This month’s prompts were provided by Alex (The Scribe Owl). Top 5 Wednesday was originally created by GingerReadsLainey.)
I love this prompt! I’m always looking for summer-themed books to read during the summer months. (And winter-themed books for the winter, of course.) So, here are some of my personal favorites.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

It should be no surprise that this is first on the list. Although this book isn’t on my Top 10 List, it does have a place as one of my favorite books of all time. That same’s true for a lot of people; it’s definitely a must-read. But it also has amazing summer vibes, so it’s the perfect book to pick up while on vacation. Plus, there’s finally a sequel being released in the fall! So, all the more reason to give it a go.

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Honestly, I don’t know why this book gives me summer vibes. But it does. (And there are plenty of people who agree with me. I checked.) Maybe it’s because I first read it during the summer? I don’t know. Anyway, I absolutely love this book! If you haven’t read it yet, I highly encourage you to give it a try. It’s an incredibly funny and sweet contemporary romance that will also have you in tears at points. It’s honestly perfect.

The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall

I think the reason that this is a summer-themed book is obvious. But I also just absolutely love pirates and mermaids, so I had to include this book on the list! (I may have included another, too. But, look, that was me showing restraint and limiting myself to two. I could make an entire list filled with books about pirates and/or mermaids.)
There’s honestly so much that I love about this book, so I’ll just direct you to my review if you want to know more. That’s much easier than trying to summarize my thoughts, here.

Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee

Okay, I actually have yet to read this one. But I know it takes place during the summer and it’s been highly recommended to me, so I’m including it! I really want to get around to reading this one, but I just haven’t found the time yet. Soon, though. If you’ve read it, though, I’d love to hear what you thought of it! So, feel free to drop a comment down below or you can always shoot me a quick message.

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

As promised, here we have the second book about pirates and mermaids. Well, technically sirens, but you know what I mean. Anyway, I really enjoyed this one, too. And it’s perfect for summer, of course! So, I highly recommend checking this one out; if YA fantasy is your thing, then you’ll most likely love it.
