If I Could Be the Main Character…

Hi everyone, and welcome back to another Top 5 Wednesday post! Today’s prompt focuses on books I would choose to be a part of if I could be the main character of a story.

Some books warm your heart so much that you wish you could hop right into the story as a character! If you had to be the main character of five books, which would they be?

(These prompts are provided by Alex (The Scribe Owl). Top 5 Wednesday was originally created by GingerReadsLainey.)

Firstly, I want to say that this wasn’t easy. Even though there are a lot of amazing stories and worlds I think it would be fun to be involved in, I found it weird to put myself in the shoes of specific main characters. Honestly, I don’t know why. But I definitely struggled with this one. Still, I ended up settling on my five top choices. I like them, and I hope you do, too!

So, without further delay, here are my selections!

#5: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

If you’ve read or at least heard of this book, then you know why it’s on this list. If you haven’t, though, the premise of Inkheart is literally the prompt for this post! Certain characters can either pluck characters out of books and bring them into the real, or they can transport themselves into the books. And that’s a power I think anyone would love to have!

#4: Emma by Jane Austen

I know Emma isn’t supposed to be likable at the start of her story, but honestly? Even then, she’s so much fun! Plus, she is a mastermind. Maybe not a criminal mastermind like Kaz Brekker or even like the slightly less dark Artemis Fowl, but the parallels are there.

#3: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

By now, you probably know how much I love this book. It’s comedy at its finest, in my humble opinion. Seriously, though, who wouldn’t want to take the role of Arthur Dent? Especially considered the way he behaves is probably how anyone really would if they were thrust into such a fantastically absurd situation.

#2: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

Okay, you probably saw this one coming. I talk about how much I love these books a lot, after all. But in all honestly, being any one of these characters would be so cool! Part of me wants to pick Ronan as the character I’d want to walk in the shoes of, but Gansey is actually my final choice. After all, I have the same love of history that he has! And I would love to be able to have the adventures he’s been on, both within the series and the ones mentioned from his past.

#1: The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

If you didn’t see this one coming…well, then this is probably just your first time here! Because I honestly don’t think I can go more than a couple posts without mentioning my love for Tolkien. Anyway, I would absolutely love to jump into the world and plot of The Lord of the Rings. And honestly, I wouldn’t care which main character’s shoes I ended up in. I love them all, and they all have awesome storylines.

So, hopefully, you enjoyed my choices for if I could be the main character in a book. Honestly, Six of Crows should be on this list, because I would love to be one of The Dregs! But I think I mention it too much in these posts, so I left it out today.

Anyway, if you had to choose a book to be the main character of, what would it be? Do you agree with any of the choices I made? Drop a comment down below and let me know! And if you’re interested in seeing more of my Top 5 Wednesday lists, feel free to check them out here!
