Today’s Top 5 Wednesday prompt has me super excited! After all, who doesn’t like to talk about books that will make you smile? Nothing beats a good comedy when you’re feeling down!

I think we can all agree that things aren’t quite perfect in the world right now, so to bring a little light to everyone’s day this week’s prompt is about books that brought a smile to your face!

(This month’s prompts were provided by Alex (The Scribe Owl). Top 5 Wednesday was originally created by GingerReadsLainey.)

So, without further ado, here are five books that made me smile! And if you haven’t read any of these, I highly recommend that you do. All the books on this list are some of the best books I’ve ever read; so, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

#5: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This duology is a little more serious than some of the other books on this list. Still, Bardugo wrote some truly amazing comedy in both these books. The “my ghost won’t associate with your ghost” scene? Brilliant. And that’s just one example from many. (It’s the banter, okay? The Crows’ banter is just so, so good.) So, if you haven’t read this one yet, I really recommend you do! I think most people would agree that this is one of the best books out there.

And although the comedy is excellent, there are also some incredibly sweet moments in these books that’ll make you smile. Of course, you’re also going to cry; there are some seriously painful parts, too, I won’t lie. But, hey; can a book really be amazing without some degree of pain? But don’t go into this one expecting pure comedy and happiness. You’d be very, very surprised if that’s what you were looking forward to.

#4: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

This is a similar situation to Six of Crows. There are so many great moments in these books, and they’re everything from funny to heartwarming to exciting. Maggie Stiefvater truly is amazing.

I recommend these books to everyone, and I’ve yet to have that backfire. In fact, I think I’ve permanently cemented some friendships because I recommended these books. So, if you haven’t read The Raven Cycle yet, give it a go! (Also, who’s jumping with excitement for Mister Impossible? Because let me tell you, I am going to die from excitement for Mister Impossible.)

#3: Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

The reason Good Omens made me smile is simple: This book? It’s comedic perfection. I cannot put into words how absolutely, insanely hysterical this story is. Crowley and Aziraphale might be the best duo ever written, to be honest. But this book still manages to have some pretty great themes, to boot! Really, just an amazing read overall, and one I highly recommend.

#2: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

This book is also comedic perfection. I don’t really think there’s any way to describe it without reading it, though; you simply can’t do it justice. So, if you’re looking for comedy, whether you’re a science fiction fan or not, I encourage you to check this one out. I promise that you will be far from disappointed if you do.

#1: Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

This is honestly just such an amazing book, for so many reasons. But one of those reasons is that it is guaranteed to have you smiling a lot. There are just so many incredible scenes in this book! And so many of them made me smile. Sometimes, that was because this book is undeniably hysterical. But there are also so many adorable, heart-warming moments. And the characters are flat-out awesome, too. Every person in this book had me falling in love with them.

So, I hope you enjoyed this list of books that will make you smile! And if you do choose to read any of these, let me know if they delivered on that front! Or, if you’ve already read and loved these books, drop a comment down below and tell me which parts made you smile or laugh.
